Changes to Peckham Branch Opening Hours

Our Heaton Road (Peckham) branch will be open 3 days per week from July. Here's everything you need to know.

As of 1 July, we’re making some changes to the opening hours at our branch in Heaton Road, Peckham. Going forward, the branch will be open on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays only, and will be closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

What about Walworth Road?

Our Walworth Road branch (near Elephant and Castle) will remain open 5 days a week and there are no current plans to change this. Members who usually visit Heaton Road can visit Walworth Road on the days Heaton Road is closed. The journey takes 20-30 minutes (12 or 343 bus), and in many cases, you’ll see the same friendly faces ready to serve you.

Why We’re Making This Change

We’ve noticed that fewer members visit our Peckham branch on certain days, and more of us are choosing to use the mobile app or our debit card for day-to-day banking and cash withdrawals. As a credit union, we believe in being here for our members. That means adapting to meet your needs as times change.

On days the branch is closed, staff will support other areas of the business, like membership, helpdesk, and outreach teams. There are no planned redundancies or reductions in hours.

This decision isn’t about cutting costs—it’s about serving members in ways that work for them.

How This Benefits You

By freeing up counter staff, we’ll be able to provide extra support across other channels where members need us:

  • Bookable Appointments: We know that sometimes, you just need to speak to someone. With reduced branch hours, more of our team members will be available for 15—or 30-minute bookable appointments to discuss whatever you need support with. We’ve already rolled this service out for online banking and plan to expand it to other types of enquiries.
  • Community Presence: We can increase our outreach efforts by attending more community events and providing financial guidance and support directly in your community.
  • More Support in Challenging Times: We are training more specialist staff to support members who are going through challenging times such as bereavement, abuse, becoming a victim of fraud, or facing serious financial difficulty. This will make sure we are ready to give the right support and have meaningful conversations at the times when it really matters.

Other Ways to Manage Your Account

We understand that flexibility is key. Here are some alternative ways to manage your account:

  • Online Banking App: Install our app to access your accounts anytime, anywhere.
  • Helpdesk: Visit support.creditunion.co.uk or call us on 020 3773 1751 (9am-5pm, Monday-Friday) for any assistance you need.
  • Text Service: Simply text “BAL” to 80011 for your latest account balance.
