London Mutual Credit Union has launched its first mobile banking app, giving members 24-hour access to their accounts through smartphones and tablets. The free app is now available for download from Apple’s App Store.

The launch makes LMCU one of the first credit unions in London to offer comprehensive mobile banking services, allowing members to manage their finances whilst away from branch locations.

Key features include account balance checking across savings, current, loan and Cash ISA accounts, viewing recent transactions, and transferring money between credit union accounts. Members can also apply for revolving loans and request external bank transfers, though these require manual processing by staff and may take up to 48 hours to complete.

The app includes secure messaging functionality, allowing members to communicate directly with different LMCU departments, request statements by post or email, and update login details.

“This represents a significant step forward in making our services more accessible to members,” said an LMCU spokesperson. “Members can now check balances, view transactions and manage their accounts around the clock.”

The mobile banking service complements LMCU’s existing online platform and branch network across Southwark, Lambeth, Westminster and Camden. iPhone and iPad users can download the app by searching “LMCU” in the App Store. The credit union plans to expand availability to other mobile platforms in future.

LMCU serves over 17,000 members across four London boroughs through six branch offices, offering affordable loans, competitive savings products and current account services as an alternative to traditional high-street banking.
