News & updates

London Mutual Credit Union (LMCU) has completed its merger with Camden Plus Credit Union (CPCU), ensuring that everyone who lives or works in the London Borough of Camden continues to have access to credit union products and services.

Camden Plus Credit Union was experiencing financial challenges that would have forced closure without intervention. Support from Camden Council enabled the merger with LMCU, preserving credit union services for local residents under new management.

Expanding LMCU’s reach across London

This merger represents the seventh credit union that LMCU has supported over the past 13 years, demonstrating its commitment to maintaining credit union services across London. LMCU now provides services to all those who live or work in the London Boroughs of Southwark, Lambeth, Westminster and Camden.

Established in 1982, LMCU has grown to become the largest community credit union in London, serving over 17,000 members through six branch offices across four local authorities.

Services for Camden members

The Camden branch at 347 Royal College Street, London, NW1 9QS operates Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 4.30pm, providing Camden members with full access to their accounts and services.

Camden members also benefit from LMCU’s comprehensive online services, including loan applications, fund transfers, membership applications, current account opening, account balance viewing, transaction history, and additional digital services. Members can also check their account balances using the SMS balance enquiry system.
