About this credit union loan
About borrowing with us
How does a Child Benefit Loan work in practice?
With a Child Benefit Loan, repayments are taken directly from your Child Benefit payments, making it easier to budget and removing the need to set up a separate direct debit.
Do I have to apply for the loan every time I want to borrow?
No. Once you’re approved and your Child Benefit is paid into your credit union account, you may be able to reapply or top up without going through a full application process each time.
Can I still access my Child Benefit money after the loan repayment?
Yes. After the agreed loan repayment has been taken, the remaining balance of your Child Benefit is available to withdraw or transfer as you choose.
Is a Child Benefit Loan only for parents on low income?
Not at all. The loan is open to any parent or guardian who receives Child Benefit and meets the credit union’s membership criteria.
What happens if my Child Benefit stops or changes?
If your circumstances change for reasons beyond your control, we’ll work with you to adjust your repayment plan. The key is to contact us as soon as possible so we can help keep the loan on track.
